Be On Time!

Being on time is one of the most important qualities we as parents can teach our children. With traffic, being late from work, dinner, other kids activities life can get out of control fast.  But, with a little preparation we can make it work!

Why Is Being On Time So Important

When we arrive to an appointment, school, a class, sporting event or whatever it shows respect. Respect for the other people attending the event, as well as the instructor or the person hosting the event.

Not only that, it gives us time to arrive at the location without having to rush. It gives us the chance to prepare for the upcoming event at hand.

For example, if you have a dentist appointment. Arriving out early will give you the opportunity to fill out the forms and have them ready so that when your appointment time starts the doctor can get right to work and it doesn’t waste any time. Apply that to your martial arts training. Showing up on time for class gives you the opportunity to come into the school and get your uniform on properly. It also gives you time to go on the match and stretch and warm-up if there is not another class taking place before yours.

If you take the time to prepare and leave a little early the pressure will come off of you. You won’t always feel like you are in a rush and hurrying everywhere. Preparing and being early will actually take that pressure off of you.

3 Tips To Being On Time

#1 Prepare the night before.

Getting things together can help you be on time to whatever event you’re going to. For example, if you’re coming to karate class pack your bag the night before. Have your sparring gear, uniform, and anything else you need to take the class waiting by the door. That way when you get home from school and mom and dad say its time to go to class you’re ready to go.

Getting things in order will also make your life a lot less rushed as well.  You wont need to be running around the house at the last minute to find your belt.

#2 Schedule Your Classes Ahead Of Time

Our schedule is everywhere.  On the Synergy Karate app, our Synergy Martial Arts Odenton Community Facebook Page as well as a paper copy is available at our front desk.  Look at the schedule and plan ahead.

When you pick a class and plan your day around it that makes life easier.

For example, if you know getting to the 5:00 PM Beginner class is cutting it close, take some stress off and come to the 5:50 class.

Make appointments ahead of time and it will relieve that last minute stress of getting there in a rush and being late.

#3 Anticipate And Leave Early

Plan for traffic, accidents, slow drivers and anything else that can come up.  Leave yourself enough time to get from point A to point B with plenty of time.  This will 100% relieve that stress you have of rushing around.

Teaching our kids to be on time shows respect for everyone involved in the appointment.  There is an old saying, if you are not 15 min early, you are late.  That is a good one to live by.
